1000ad Glossary E

Empire
An empire is your account. Your aim should be to grow and finish the round ranked first.

End Turn
The end turn button. You can decide how many turns you want to play at one time up to a maximum of 12. During protection it might be good to end 1 turn at a time, while maging it is suggested you end 12 turns at a time since you will be vulnerable to attacks during the mage.

Enemies
These will be all people who are on your war list. They normally show up highlighted in red on the scores page.You can have a maximum of 5 alliances on your war list at any one time. Technically everyone that is not your ally is an enemy and can be targeted. However, enemies that are on your war list should normally be a priority as they usually pose a more direct threat.

Explorer Research
For every 1% of explorers research your explorers will find an additional 1% of land. However, this will be offset to some extent as your explorer efficiency decreases.

Exploring
Exploring plays an important role in 1000ad. Initially during protection everyone will have to explore.As you explore more land the cost of exploring will increase proportional to the amount of land you have. In standard it is suggested you explore up to 1million acres before starting to build any army. In tournament game it is suggested you explore to approx 2million acres before building an army. However, exploring can become extremely costly as you grow and depending on your strategy you might need to start attacking sooner.

Exploring Cost
It costs 1 food for each 800 land you have to send 1 explorer.

Exploring Efficiency
For every 1,000,000 land you have your explorer efficiency will decrease by 1%

Exploring All Land
If you are exploring for All Land, then 1 explorer will find in 1 turn:
0.13 mountains
0.26 forests
0.58 plains
----
= 0.97 land

Exploring Forest Only
If you are exploring for Forest land only, then 1 explorer will find in 1 turn:

0.26 * 2.5 = 0.65

Vikings can make good use of their forest land bonus early on in the game. Mongols also get a forest food bonus so during protection they should take advantage.

Exploring Mountain Only
If you are exploring for Mountain land only, then 1 explorer will find in 1 turn:

0.13 * 3 = 0.39

Byzantines will require mountain land to generate more income.

Exploring Plains Only
If you are exploring for Plains land only, then 1 explorer will find in 1 turn:

0.58 * 2 = 1.16

This is the most common land type in 1000ad and is required by all civs to varying degrees
